Greetings Pilates Enthusiasts!
I don’t like taking pictures, as I’m bad at it, nor do I like being in them. So, of course, I asked a client who feels the same way as I do to take some pictures for me for the web site. And may the universe shine its light upon her, she is exactly like me! Out of the 25 or so she took, there were at least 3, maybe 4, that anyone would be proud to show on their web site.
So why did I choose the eyes-closed-clothing-askew-ambiguous-background photo for the blog? To highlight today’s focus: nobody’s perfect.
And there is no Perfect Pilates.
Your instructors, me included, always strive to be as present as we can be in any exercise. But does being an instructor make us perfect at Pilates? No, NO and H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS NO! I have taught clients with more experience with body movement: dancers, gymnasts, yogis and just regular folk with looser hamstrings that look more beautiful in exercises the first day than I will look with years of practice. And you know what? I still love that exercise. Not only does it keep me coming back to the mat, but it is a humble reminder that no one is perfect and we all have room to grow and learn.
Come learn with us Wednesdays, 9am at Soul Body Ojai 206 N. Signal Street,
Suite H.
